How far can I drive on what's left?
Halftank answers that on a map. Enter the miles your car says are left, gas or electric, and it draws them as a circle around you. Everywhere inside the circle is still in reach. As you drive, the circle follows you and shrinks a mile for every mile, so one glance shows every place you could still turn off and go: the next town, a gas station, a charger, home.
- Does it work for electric cars?
- Yes. Enter the range your EV shows. It works the same for gas, hybrids, motorcycles, e-bikes and scooters.
- How accurate is it?
- The circle is straight-line distance. Real roads are always longer, so treat the edge of the circle as "maybe" and keep a buffer, especially in hills, heat, cold or high-speed driving.
- What does "There & back" do?
- It adds a second circle at half your range: places you can reach and still get back from without refueling or charging.
- Does it track me?
- No. Your location goes from your phone's GPS to the map and nowhere else. The page only remembers your starting range and miles driven, on your device.
- Do I need an app?
- No. It runs in your phone's browser. To keep it handy, use Share → Add to Home Screen on iPhone, or Install app in Chrome on Android.
- Does it work on CarPlay or Android Auto?
- Not yet. Those screens only allow approved apps, and a web page can't appear there.
